DIT COLOR GRADING LESSONS - 2025 - INTERNAL UPDATE

Color Live is a process that enables real-time color adjustments during filming, allowing Digital Imaging Technicians (DIT) to correct colors on set. This ensures that the captured footage aligns with the director's vision and the Director of Photography’s (DOP) intended look. With digital cinematography, post-production often begins on set. Pre-production involves defining the visual style through references and mood boards, which serve as a guide during filming. A dedicated on-set professional ensures consistency with the chosen look, assessing changes in lighting or exposure. Color Live On Set is essential for maintaining uniformity across different cameras, lenses, and varying scene conditions. In post-production, look metadata provides a reference for the colorist, preserving the DOP’s intent and enhancing overall quality and coherence.
